2026 Certification FAQ

  • Where will applicant’s boards be mailed to?
    • Name & Address is in your portfolio.
  • What are the dates for mailing?
    • All boards are to be received BETWEEN Oct. 12 and Oct. 26, 2026

  • How can I order the additional Designs and how will it be delivered?
    • You can order additional designs from the Certification website.
    • All Instructions will be automatically delivered upon purchase as a PDF download.
    • A paper copy of ordered design(s) will be mailed via USPS along with your applicant number.
  • Where do I pay the entry fee and mail back fees?
    • Pay online only on the Certification website.
      Mail Back fees are announced in August as USPS rates fluctuate.
  • Paper can now be used as an alternate surface for the MDA floral. Is leafing required?
    • Yes, the requirements are the same as for other surfaces.
  • I am using paper as my surface. Must the back of the board be finished?
    • Yes, a backing board must be provided and appropriately finished as it will be judged.
    • Do not cover the back of your board in any way.
  • Must I use a mat and frame if I paint on paper?
    • No, do not use a mat. A frame is optional but see requirements below.
    • A backing board and Plexiglas should be used. Please read full details in the Instructions.
  • Now that tin trays are no longer available, what surface can be used for the MDA stroke design?
    • A Masonite panel is recommended.
    • I have a tin tray. May I use it?
      • Yes, both surfaces will be judged.
  • How can I prepare for Certification?
    • Watch the videos on the Certification website
    • Attend Certification online classes.
    • Request a conference with a judge if you applied in 2024 and/or 2025.
    • Practice, practice, practice.
